Wow! Now this is different. A log cabin from the 1800's, just like the one our forefathers called home.
If you are looking for modern-day comforts and conveniences, ask for one of our other rooms. But if you would like an experience that will take you back into history, letting you live just as the pioneers did, this is for you.
Except for one thing. Civilization is just yards away.
Were log buildings drafty and leaky? Not at all. The space between the logs was packed with mortar, and the roof really did keep the weather out. And our cabin, though old, has been properly maintained. It measures approximately 18 feet by 14 feet.
However, to keep the experience authentic, we have not added plumbing or much electricity. Oil lamps provide good illumination, the pot-belly stove will keep you snug and warm if the chilly mountain air sweeps down on you at night, and the outhouse (or the main house) is conveniently close. One electrical outlet supplies power for a reading light, and the in-room coffee service.
Including a television seemed redundant, but if you want entertainment, step outside on a clear night, and look up. You have never seen the Milky Way like this before. With no city lights to dim the view, you will be awe-struck at the number and brilliance of the stars. For the rest of your life, you will never look at the night sky in the same way again.
The telephone is there for the ambiance. Don't try calling London or New York.
But when you get home, you will surely have a great story to tell to those city slickers.
